The Uighur Massacre: We don’t need your solidarity Al-Qaeda!

The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia aligns itself with the rest of the world in condemning the recent unrest in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region caused by the Chinese Government’s mishandling of an alleged delicate internal matter. While we see that the root cause of this problem is simply human greed and arrogance, we strongly feel that there is no justification for the actions by the Chinese government in creating the conditions that caused the conflict and participating in fueling further the recent violence in Urumqi.

Perhaps you would like to spend sometime in Xinjiang, China and not just listen to what others say.
I have always thought you write well based on facts. Unfortunately with what you have just written, you risk losing credibility.

The Chinese govt. had better rethink its strategy here. Crushing the Uighurs is not an option. More carrots instead of sticks, methinks.

What is the root cause. ??
One should get into the historical fact before commenting.
Did the the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia made any strong condemnation of the indonesian massacre and raping of the indon chinese women years back.
When malaysian are sidelined, has Muslim Youth Movement come out with any statement. Oh …only non muslim sidelined..thats OK.

Actually ABIM did issue a very strong statement about the anti-chinese riots in Indonesia in May-June 1998. In fact they issued statements about political repression, torture, police abuse and detentions in Indonesia during Suharto’s time consistently. I fail to see why you are assuming that they are being inconsistent here, and why you link the repression and abuse of the Chinese in Indonesia during Suharto’s time to what is happening in China now. In fact I dont see why so many of you cannot get out of your own narrow racialised mind-sets while condemning others of the same thing.

Farish,
I guess its lack of information that is causing non-Malay/Muslim to perceive issues along lines of ‘this race vs my race’.
Hopefully, efforts to create a more open space in the traditional medium of infor such as daily newspapers, radio & tv will be successful enough to place before the average Malaysian alternative views.
Nonetheless, its important to correct whatever shortfalls for a better Malaysia which I believe is the common aspiration, regardless of our race or religion.
For those who have been at the fore front, continue with your efforts as true Malaysians will be there with you.
Good luck & best wishes.

Don’t be mislead by western media or any arabic media link or control by western interest. the head line “Uighur Massare” is a distortion.
The unrest in urumchi is not caused by the local uighur, infact many ordinary han chinese are saved by local uighur, it is the external force that are linked to western interest which like to split or slowdown china’s rapid economic advacement.
They wish to see the islamic world turn against china, but the islamic countries including turkey knows that china had been friendly with islamic and african countrise and has not interfered in their internal affare.
For your information the uighur chinese are hard working people there are many successful uighur business man not only in xinjiang but in many parts of china.
So don’t be misslead by the upstream western media organisations.
